We left SpringTown at around 7:30 and made stops here and there, getting up to the Madison River pretty darned late in the evening; 'round 6:30, in fact. It's not easy to find and make a good camp at that late hour in the fall...
The kids were a joy and the people we met as good as we've ever seen on these trips.
It's one of those traditions that sustains the soul and exposes
all manner of flaws on my part, but it's something we'll be doing as long as my joints will support me and petrochemicals remain cheap enough for my slender means to purchase all the way up to the Beartooths and back.
