We Found a Tonka Tractor

Finally checked off a longtime goal; I finished my "Red Card" certification to fight federal and state wildfires, and in the process of training, we found an old Tonka Grader. that was a good bit of luck, and some of the guys in our class, it was a triumph.

More Than This

I done turned fifty years old.

We went up to the cabin, and it was blessed good and joy was had by all.

I appreciate my family and what they do, but I love the colors we make as we live and interact together.

Weekday Dayoff and Destinations...

On a whim and on one of these happy Fridays when I hadn't any school to teach we went up to the Utah County art galleries. We got to see the stickbender again and other fairly cool installation artists, and on the way home, we ate lots of pizza and other assorted beer accompaniers at the Springville Straptank.

The best companion in the world.

February and Family Time at the Cabin

We've taken some time up at the cabin these days-we like to get up here in February, and if that's the fortune, things go better than they might otherwise during the darkest days of winter before the first glimmers of dawn. It's been pretty light and good snow this year, and without this refuge of order and proximal wilderness, again and for probably the ninety sixth time, I wouldn't be the same person.

Gone South...

St. George, Winter Fire School 2019.

Good learning, good times, great people. All right said, dear sweet Fred.

Even saw Cousin AJ!

Marching on to Something New.

...But things keep growing as long as there is heat, light, and a little bit of water to keep body and soul together.

We have our own space, we have the sky and earth, and  we have the planets beyond the sky-what else would anyone want or care to hope for?

All of these and the hope contained herein, of course.

Mid-Winter for the SpringTowne Area

Middle of winter, temperature wise and lack-of-light wise, but as far as we're concerned, none of  that really matters. Time advances, passes, and little bits and pieces, especially those stuck between our teeth, remain to keep our attention for as long as we pay just enough of our attention to it.

But what is it that keeps it running, ticking and pounding our little bodies to dust? I'm not sure. I know it runs on whatever keeps this young lad moving and dancing to whatever music sounds.

A happy birthday was had by this other energy-driven lad, his eighteenth so far. The Seventh of January comes and goes again.
