Long Goodbye to Summer

This year has passed with fits and starts of snow, rain, heat and cold, with duration and sequence having very little to do with any tradition or previous year's order- but that is what I anticipate how things will go for a while.
The fall has been long and warm after a fairly hot summer that started late. It's been nice to live outside for a month extra with the mild temperatures and persistent leaves, but things are changing finally. I don't know if the status quo will keep on, but this is the kind of October that one dreams about.
